Nelson Performance Horses, LLC

The best is yet to come! That is the approach Bart Nelson is taking as he pursues turning his dreams into reality. Bart started his own place after being involved in the equine industry for many years. Nelson Performance Horses, LLC is a Horse Boarding and Events Center facility in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Bart was brought up working with animals and caring for them. “It's rewarding when you can see an animal go on and do well,” he said. Getting a handle on the size of the farm has been one of the challenges Bart has been facing. The arena is Olympic size and the facilities are very large, but what he saw is that it was full of potential. “It is very unique to have this size of a facility being run by just one person,” Bart stated. “There are also not many black men in the industry and I wanted to prove to myself and others that I could do it.”

The memories are being made as this all unfolds. Bart is living out his dream, doing something he is passionate about. This is his work and his hobby he said, “even through the arctic chill.” Other hobbies like camping and boating are enjoyed when the weather is much warmer and the time is available.

Thank you to Bart Nelson for being this week’s Farmer Friday. We wish you the best as you continue to follow your heart and take on this large endeavor for your industry. Good luck to you and the future of your facility!
