Fair Project Friday

Hold your horses and check out Branda Brusse from the Sheboygan County Hingham Handy Helpers 4-H club. Her love for animals along with motivation from her sister assisted in getting her involved in the Horseless Horse Groom/Coach program (HHG) a year ago. She has also been involved in the Goat, Rabbit, Foods and Nutrition, and Celebrate the Arts projects.

The purpose of the Horseless Horse Groom/Coach program is to give youth who are not ready or able to own their own horse a chance to learn. They will learn the many aspects of owning a horse and horsemanship, along with the commitments from other teenage horse owners. Branda was paired up with a horse named Dude this year, whom she will be showing at various horse shows and the county fair. Her favorite part of the project is having the opportunity to spend time with the horses. In order for her to get them ready for the fair she has the opportunity to help with brushing it, picking its hooves, bathing it, working with the coach in practice shows, and attending HHG classes to learn about working with horses and safety.

In Branda’s 2 years of being involved in the horse project, she has learned so much including all the body parts, saddle parts, bridle parts, the different breeds of horses, tips on how to be safe around horses, and how to properly wash horses. Without the Horseless Horse Groom/Coach program, Branda would have never of had an experience like this. When attending the fair, her favorite part is having the opportunity to walk around all the barns and see what all the other hard-working youth have brought. The fair at the Sheboygan County Fair Park runs August 29th – September 2nd, so stop horsing around and come on out to watch Branda show Dude. Good luck Branda!

#FairProjectFriday...post #19... To show our support to the next generation of agriculture, Country Visions Cooperative will be giving a snapshot look of youth and their fair projects each Friday.
