Fair Project Friday

No more stalling! It’s almost time for the mane event! Maggie, Becky, and Amy Hoffmann have all been working hard on their horse & pony projects for this year’s Ozaukee County Fair. In addition to the horse projects the girls have in common, Maggie has projects for scrapbooking, photography, and home environment. Becky also does rabbits, crocheting, knitting, candle making, soap making, youth leadership, and photography, while Amy brings vet science, scrapbooking, and youth leadership. Even with this extensive list of other categories, they all agree that their favorite project is the horse project. They love riding them, spending time with them and learning more about horses.

Maggie’s favorite part about her horse, Danny, is that he is super calm and never bucks and bolts. She is grateful to have learned so much about showing horses and how to get them ready for shows in her 3 years of being involved with this project. Her favorite part of the fair is simply being able to hang out with all the friends that she has met through 4-H.

Patchy is Becky’s horse. He loves to go fast, which she really enjoys. Five years of showing has taught Becky hard work and perseverance, seeing that you have to keep working through all the challenges to get them ready for the fair. Her favorite part of the fair is the opportunity to show everyone the results of her hard work along with getting to see what everyone else has accomplished over the summer.

Amy has been showing her horse Leo for 8 years now and she describes him as, “a lot of horse.” She recently started to work with her new horse, Ace, and has really enjoyed working with him from the ‘ground up’. That experience has taught her to be patient and persistent. Amy’s favorite part of the fair is seeing the community it creates with people that all have the same interests.

Maggie, Becky, and Amy have stayed persistent this summer preparing their horses for the fair by conditioning them, washing them, and clipping them. These three sisters belong to Lakeview 4-H Club WI in Ozaukee County, Maggie for 6 years, Becky for 8, and Amy for 11. One of their favorite things to do is teach the public more about horses and the horse and pony project.

Believe it or not, Ozaukee County Fair is one of the last Free Fairs in the Midwest! So, if you are looking for some free fun July 31st - August 4th, take a drive down and bring your unbridled enthusiasm to support Maggie, Becky, and Amy in all of their projects.

Good luck to the Hoffmann girls with all their projects at the Ozaukee County Fair!

#FairProjectFriday...post #16... To show our support to the next generation of agriculture, Country Visions Cooperative will be giving a snapshot look of youth and their fair projects each Friday.
