Safety

SAFETY

As your propane supplier, the safety of you and your family is our top priority. Propane, when used properly, is a safe, clean burning, convenient and efficient energy. As with other fuel types (fuel oil, electricity, natural gas, wood) it is extremely important to respect, understand and know how to safely use your propane system. We want you to be able to recognize the odor of propane and to know what to do if you suspect a problem. Propane Safety pamphlets with the “Sniff Test” circle are mailed to customers annually. Please read the safety brochure and share the information with your family. Please contact our office for a copy of the pamphlet if you would like to update your propane safety knowledge.

Facts

FACTS

Also called LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) or LP gas, propane is a trusted and reliable energy source that is used by millions of Americans each day. It is considered a clean and efficient energy source. Country Visions’ Propane Department has certified personnel for delivery and experienced technicians to provide full service for all your propane needs. The Co-op has storage facilities in Casco, Kiel, Mishicot, Reedsville and Valders and currently serves customers in the counties of Manitowoc, Calumet, Kewaunee, Brown, Sheboygan and Fond du Lac.

Country Visions has propane tanks available for lease or purchase in sizes from 120 gallons to 1000 gallons. We also fill cylinders from 20# to 100# and motor homes at our Country Store locations.

We offer scheduled delivery for our propane customers. Driver’s schedules are created using a route system determined by heating degree days and delivery history to determine how much propane is in your tank and when you will need a delivery. We encourage most customers to be on a scheduled delivery, so we can give you uninterrupted service. We recommend that alternative fuel users (wood, pellets, or geothermal), who use propane as a back-up, be on a “will call” fill status and notify us when a fill is needed. Use of an alternative fuel distorts the factors on the routing system. Please contact us if you have questions regarding “scheduled delivery” and “will call” or if you use an alternative heat source and would like to change to “will call”.

Propane contracting is offered to lock-in your propane price during the heating season. Contracts offer three payment options: a 12 month budget plan, a lock-in price with a deposit and regular credit terms, or a discounted price for the prepay option. A minimum usage of 500 gallons is required for contracts.

What is a Co-op?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines a cooperative as a user-owned, user-controlled business that distributes benefits on the basis of use. Member users, or patrons, own and democratically elect the board of directors, which provides oversight of the co-op. Net earnings are distributed on the basis of proportional use, or patronage, rather than on investment.

Cooperative associations have been organized throughout history to carry out many different activities, often in response to economic and social stress. Cooperative organizations in the United States first appeared in the late 1700's and today co-ops can be found in all sectors of the U.S. economy. Consumer, purchasing and farm supply cooperatives are all organized to provide the specialized goods or services that their member patrons want to buy.

By combining member demand, a co-op can provide better availability, selection, pricing, or delivery of products or services to individual consumers, businesses or farmers. Farm supply co-ops cost-effectively supply input, fuel and agronomy services to farm business owners.
